Broken Spoon Cakes is a new Cork-based cake studio, owned by me, Tara Menzies, and I adore creating bespoke wedding & celebration cakes. I have always loved baking since childhood. A Business & Marketing graduate, my love of sugarcraft started a number of years ago with my daughters christening cake. Since then my hobby grew into an obsession as it was the perfect way for me to create and bake. I spent a number of years growing my skills, completing the PME Knightsbridge Masters Diploma in Cake Decorating, Royal Icing and Sugar Flower and variuos technique classes. Also many hours were spent on my own self-taught techniques and soon Broken Spoon Cakes was born. I draw inspiration particularly from bridal couture fashion, nature and your favourite things for design concepts. I also work very closely with you to ensure that your cake incorporates your theme and enhances your milestone occasions. Hand painted cakes is something we love at Broken Spoon Cakes which adds a very different element to your cake and allows great design scope. It literally is edible art. The inside of the cake is just as important to how a cake looks which is why I use quality ingredients. This is extremely important to Broken Spoon Cakes as I make my own chocolate ganache, curds, Italian meringue, buttercreams, butterscotch, truffles and more.
